Abstracts: A collection of digitally constructed abstractions.
Surrealism: Series of straight and digitally altered surrealistic images.
Smoke and Liquid Forms: Abstract images created from photographs of smoke and various liquids. Some of the smoke photos are simple abstractions naturally inherent to the smoke, however, the majority are based on the idea of capturing the "essence" of the physical forms found within the smoke. In a sense, it is the smokes way of telling me how it wants to be photographed.
Portals: Photos of doorways and surreal images of passages that lead from one plane of existence into another.
Holga Camera: Photos taken with a Holga plastic camera on various color and b&w 120mm films.
Inner Beauty: A photo project based on an observation of the unwillingness to be photographed by some women, because they were not happy with their outer appearance, or felt the need to alter their appearance with make-up before sitting in front of a camera. The loss of texture detail obtained in the highlights of the skin allows the subject to undergo a metamorphosis of shedding their outer layer, to reveal a beauty from within. It is a timeless beauty, which appears to be set in stone, and not bound by social identity. The project was developed for one of my MFA courses and evolved.
The Awakening: Digitally manipulated composites inspired by the haunting visions and subliminal interactions I have encountered within various dream states. These surreal images represent fragmented realities of my conscious mind, where I am aware of my surroundings and can influence the outcome of my dreams. They transcend into a state of suspension, where I can interact with my sleeping self as a separate being, in a state where I know fear, I know pain, but I feel neither.
Floral: A collection of digitally altered floral images.
"Smoke Signals" [PDF File]: This is digital book of images based on the idea of capturing the spirits found in the healing smoke of the herb, sage. The photo compositions are teamed with snippets of text based on Native American culture and folklore. In order for the sage to be a healing source of energy, I believe there must be "spirits" to aid in this process. These spirits present themselves for a brief moment in time, and I simply have to capture, find them, and present them to the audience in a recognizable form. This file is a small collection of some of those spirits.
